The Marching Memories DVD has so for raised £450 for
Cancer Research UK
The Silver Shadows had always been a non profit making organisation. When the Corps was founded in 1979, the corps constitution stated that in the event of the corps folding all monies in the bank and from any instruments/uniforms sold would be donated to the Erskine Hospital for disabled soldiers.
In 1989 the Corps was reformed using the unsold uniforms/instruments which had been kept in storage. When the corps disbanded in 1994 all instruments and uniforms were sold to other similar bands and the money raised was donated to Yorkhill Hospital for Sick Children for children with Leukemia.
In September 2009 a reunion was held to mark the 30th anniversary of the Corps formation. A commemorative DVD was produced using video footage from various competitions between 1980-1987 and sold on the night of the reunion with all profits made after the cost of production going to charity. The charity chosen on the night was Cancer Research UK and the sum of £450 has been raised so far.

This Website is about a group of young people in a band, how they were formed, the music they played and the friendships made. They began in 1979 as the Bearsden & Milngavie Corps of Drums and grew into The Silver Shadows who competed in their last season in 1988, only to reform again in 1990 and sadly disbanded in 1994.
